My work has been
focused on natural
tendency.
I use crude
mechanical devices
so that portions of
my paintings can
take
form without my
intervention.
My goal as a
painter is to explore
and develop my
unique visual
language while
utilizing the tools
and materials that
are indicative of my
life experience

The process drives the paintings.

It is slow and methodical.  I begin
the work by referencing the grid,
and then slowly build the painting
to eventually discover the
individual pieces essence.

The paintings unfold as the viewer
spends time with them.

Veils of color hint at nuances of
every day life, such as a foggy
road or the smell of rain on a hot
day.
There is a whimsical play created
by variation in touch, line and
texture.  The mark making alludes
to movement or a past action.
Dramatic and subtle shifts in color
create an ambient tone in the
paintings.
The meanings of the paintings are
open yet vaguely connotative.
It is not important that the viewer
identifies a specific meaning, but
rather they grasp a feeling or
sense that is reminiscent of every
day life.
